HB 2803 TN Animal Abuser Registration, Verification, & Tracking Act Sponsored by
Representatives Sontany, Maggert, West, Briley, Hardaway, & McCormick. As the 105th
TN General Assembly prepares to close for the year, the Animal Abuser Registry
(HB 2803) is still waiting its turn for a vote in the House. It is a very close
count right now and we need your help to get this bill passed and make TN the first
state in the country to publicly track felony animal abusers.
Without strict intervention, people who abuse and kill animals are more likely to
target human victims- and significant percentages are spousal or child abusers. The
Humane Society of the United States has worked to pass HB 2803 because it will serve
to protect people and pets from violent and dangerous offenders by publicly listing
and tracking those convicted of aggravated animal cruelty, felony animal fighting,
and bestiality.
Take Action!
The vote is expected to take place on Thursday, May 8th. Please make a brief, polite phone call to your TN state representative and urge them to vote "Yes" on HB 2803. Click here to find out who represents you - click on the "state" tab for your TN representative and their phone number.
